Restore Saint Paul Guidelines

North Street Restore Saint Paul Project

A Restore Saint Paul project in the Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood

Through Restore Saint Paul, Historic Saint Paul offers property owners in select Saint Paul Neighborhoods low-interest loans to improve their properties that preserve and enhance their architectural character.

Note: Unfortunately we currently do not have any residential resources available through the loan program.

The loan review committee uses the following guidelines when considering an application for a loan:
(see attached documents below)

  • Geographic Boundaries: The boundaries of the Restore Saint Paul program encompass the West Side, Dayton’s Bluff, Payne Phalen, North End, Frogtown, Summit-U, and West 7th neighborhoods.
  • Eligible Applicants: Any residential or commercial property owners residing (or doing business) within the geographic boundaries are eligible to receive a Restore Saint Paul loan.
  • Eligible Properties Any residential or commercial property built before 1940 is eligible to receive a Restore Saint Paul loan. Priority is given to properties that are architecturally compatible with the predominant character of the surrounding area. Rental properties are eligible on a project by project basis.
  • Eligible Work: The Restore Saint Paul loan must be used for improvements to the exterior façade that are visible from the street. All work must be consistent with the historic character of the property.

Please refer to our complete loan program guidelines for more information.

To apply for a loan, please download a preliminary approval application and return it to Historic Saint Paul with a photograph of the property and a $35.00 application fee.
