The home at 573 Charles was destined for the landfill after Habitat for Humanity purchased the workers cottage that was positioned next to a vacant lot. Habitat's plan was to purchase the adjacent lot and demolish the existing home in order to build a new home on the property. Preserve Frogtown shared information about the home's historical significance - including its connection to local historian Jim Sazevich (it was owned by his grandparents). After consultation with residents in the community Habitat agreed to transfer the property to Preserve Frogtown in order to preserve and rehabilitate the existing structure. We love the results.
